HEALTHY SCHOOLS

Becoming or maintaining Healthy School Status is paramount for all schools. Changes to the Award mean schools can now set their own priorities, plan and review the impact within their own school ensuring you meet the needs of your pupils. Cooking4Life are able to support with a range of workshops which can be specifically tailored to meet your requirements and help achieve your goals.

Every workshop is 'hands-on' for every pupil ensuring maximum participation and opportunities to learn transferable skills. Educating children and parents on healthy eating, understanding food contents and packaging are essential to improve the health of children and future adults. Detailed below are examples of what we can do in some of our workshops:

Session 1
  • Why fruits and vegetables are healthy
  • 5-A-Day
  • The Eatwell Plate/Balance of Good Health
  • Practical kitchen skills

Session 2
  • Why too much fat, salt and sugar is bad for us
  • Demonstrated using a range of visual aids
  • Recipes using little or no fat, salt and sugar

Session 3
  • Planning a healthy meal
  • Using Eatwell Plate and traffic light labelling
  • Research tantalising healthy recipes you can eat all week

Session 4
  • How to Food Budget
  • Discover how to go shopping for a week for less
  • Thrifty recipes everyone can enjoy

Session 5
  • Healthy ‘Tuck Shop’ treats / Healthier packed lunches

Session 6
  • Parental demonstration / Workshops
  • What recipes are achievable in school
  • School menu and tuck shop recipes
